Tsunami Hitting Mission Bay

Given the dearth of sushi restaurants in the South Beach/Mission Bay part of town, I’m sure everyone is excited about the opening of Tsunami Sushi over on 4th St. near the Cal Train station. I know I was. Sadly though, you’ll be deeply disappointed to find out that the restaurant is more of an “after work/before you head home on the train” place to have Happy Hour than a really good place to enjoy some sushi. The space is pretty cramped but has a very cool and hip vibe which would cater well to the young professional crowd that live and commute through this area. Drinks are decent and carry the typical $10-$12 price tag for chi chi mixed beverages. The food was pretty awful though. Nothing is good. In fact, if it weren’t for the fact that the waitress messed up and brought us extra food that we weren’t charged for, I would have been really angry with the bill. In the end, it was expensive, none of us felt satisfied, but we had no right to complain. I would not recommend coming hungry, but I think it would be a great place to just go have some drinks after work.
