We got together with the Jersey girls for dinner in the city at La Boqueria. It’s a Spanish tapas place with several different locations in NYC, but we made reservations at the one in Flatiron. We started the night with some drinks and appetizers, as every good night begins….
It took awhile for us to finally get seated, so by the time we ordered, I was ravenous. I think we all were, so I started eating half the dishes before I realized that I forgot to take pictures. Here is a small sampling of the food, mainly the paella and the desserts. The rest of the tapas were pretty good. There were some hits and some misses. I absolutely loved the Datiles con Beicon which are dates stuffed with almonds and Valdeon and wrapped in bacon. The Carne a la Plancha which was hanger steak was also pretty good. The bacalao (salt-cod) was not as good, and I was a little bit disappointed by the patatas bravas.
Overall, desserts were a little bit on the disappointing side. The churros looked appetizing, but unfortunately they tasted a little bit on the stale side. It wasn’t as fresh and hot as they should have been. The creme brulee and ice cream were a little bit on the average side. Again, I’m not much of a desserts person, so I’m not one who really can appreciate sweet delicacies.
Overall, the restaurant was decent, but the company was a bigger highlight than the food… at least from what I can remember. That is what happens when you get likes 10 girls together. Lots of drinking and eating and talking and hanging make for a fun time.
