Sushi in Mountain View

Sometimes I wonder if the fact that Pdho has such a high bar for sushi is the reason that we don’t eat sushi as often as I would like…. and when we do, if it’s just okay, he somehow seems disappointed. Sushi Tomi in Mountain View is a good example of this kind of sushi place. He suggests it every time we’re in Mountain View, but he also caveats that the place is good, but not great. However, there is always a line out the door.

We sat at a table and ordered a la carte from the sushi menu. We got a nigiri spread that included kampachi, spicy scallops, salmon, mackerel, yellowtail, white tuna, and fatty tuna and supplemented it with a spicy tuna roll. It looks pretty good, and it tasted equally good. Admittedly it was just normal. The fish tasted good and there is no real critique, but in the end, we left feeling a little bit bored. Maybe it’s because what we ordered was relatively common so it wasn’t going to taste much different than what we would normally have.
