Aburiya Kinnosuke

Aburiya Kinnosuke

After our long day trekking across Manhattan, we were all ready for dinner. Pdho’s cousin was going to join as well.  Ckoh seemed very excited to take us to what I think is his favorite robatayaki place in NYC, Aburiya Kinnosuke.  Unfortunately, it turned out that the robata grill was being repaired so there was a decent part of the menu that wasn’t available that night. In spite of missing out some of these dishes which Ckoh felt was pretty darn special, it was still a very delicious meal overall.

As usual, we sat back and let him take control of the ordering and the following represents the parade of dishes that followed.  In spite of the number of dishes, I would usually try to write a little blurb, but sadly, it’s been quite a bit of time since we ate there and I can’t really remember too much detail anymore. Considering the numerous things that we had, I’ll have to let the pictures do most of the talking. 😉

Special Croquette of the Day

The croquette was yummy, but I can’t recall if it was shrimp or crab. Either way, it was a tasty start to the meal.

Sashimi Salad

Deep Fried Chicken Wings

Salmon Harasu

Japanese Eggplant

Okinawa Style Stir Fry with Pork and Pickles

Fatty Blue Fin Tuna Collar

Eringi Mushroom and Wood Ear Sauteed with Cod Roe

Cod Fish Marinated with Saikyo Miso

Japanese Style Organic Fried Chicken

Organic Berkshire Pork Simmered with Brown Sugar Soju

Fish with Miso and Houba Leaf

Shrimp and Seafood Paste with Cheese Toast

Strawberry Cheesecake

Black Sesame Pudding

Green Tea Cake

All in all, it was a very good restaurant.  I like the izakaya-style aspect of the restaurant and even though we didn’t get to try any of the robata grill dishes, I still think the rest of the menu is pretty strong.  I would definitely want to venture back some day and give the robata grill a try.

i’m gonna have to ding running man on his photo editing skills. the colors are so subdued and muted. the greens, reds, and yellows don’t pop like they probably could. i’m not a fan.

I can’t wait to go here… what an interesting menu. Looks like a nice take on izakaya. The Black Cod Miso looks like it could rival Nobu’s. Wings looked delicious. Hungry. Must eat now.
