Pdho and I drove down to Burlingame to meet up with his friend, KC, and his wife for brunch at Stacks. I have been there once or twice in the past, and it serves some very solid All-American breakfast and lunch fare. It’s a very popular local chain, so every time I’ve eaten there and even when I’m just driving by, I notice there is always a very busy wait with lots of people. Today was really no different. We arrived at 11:30 or so and still waited about 30 or so minutes for booth to free up.
KC ordered a stack of three pancakes which turned out to be pretty huge. They were just as tasty as they looked as well with lots of blueberries throughout each bite. Substantial yet fluffy and not too sweet. They were perfect for my palate.
I ordered the Crab Omelet which came topped with a Hollandaise sauce and some hash brown potatoes on the side. This was definitely looks rich, but seeing as prefer savory brunch food, I thought it really hit the spot. The Hollandaise sauce wasn’t too heavy, and the omelet was full tasty crab meat and melted jack cheese. I liked it.
Pdho ordered the Blueberry Belgian Waffles. Yes, everyone was really into blueberries today. These were equally as delicious as the Blueberry pancakes. The Belgian Waffles were light and crispy, owing to a healthy dose of butter, I’m sure. The blueberry sauce topping was just sweet enough for the waffles. Another winning dish.
Overall, the food was deliciously solid. The Stacks menu actually serves quite a large variety of food for both breakfast and lunch, and although nothing is outstandingly different, most everything is pretty good. I believe they have locations in Menlo Park as well as San Francisco, so if you’re in the area and looking for brunch, this should definitely be in consideration.
