I’ve gone to almost every SF Street Food Festival since it first started over 5 years ago. The first year was pretty good, but it has grown every year and turned into one of the biggest food events in the city. It’s gotten to the point that the organizers are declaring 2014 as the last year it will be taking place in the Mission. Last year, Pdho and I decided to go check it out with JefeP. NabiP was out of town, and she is still lamenting to this day on how she missed out on it. Needless to say, it was a good ole time with a mix of hits and misses. The best part really is being able to go with enough people so you can share everything and try more things. It’s been almost a year since we went, but I figured it was worth posting before we go to this year’s finale event.
The Bulgogi Koja was definitely one of the hits of the day. The crispy rice buns made a perfect bun replacement for this Korean take on a burger.
The line for the Ramen Burger from Nombe was definitely the longest of the day, and luckily we got there early enough and acted quickly enough to just stand in line. It was delicious, and probably my favorite bite of the whole day. It makes me want to go to the restaurant just to have another.
Pdho loves funnel cake and we have gotten this literally every year. It’s good but definitely something I would recommend sharing, because it is a huge serving.
Unfortunately, it’s been too long and I can’t remember exactly where all the food came from. In spite of the crowds, I still enjoyed it, but I would recommend getting there early, going with as many friends as you can find, and dividing and conquering. Good luck!
